IO Interactive is giving its "James Bond" game its most substantial update since launch, and pairing it with a price drop that makes now a good time to jump in. Fans who have been following the game's post-launch roadmap are finally seeing several promised additions arrive at once.
IO Interactive Rolls Out '007 First Light' Update
IO Interactive released a new update for "007 First Light," continuing the steady stream of post-launch support the game has received since debuting back in May.
The studio has kept up a consistent patch cadence throughout the year, following its first major content update in July that introduced new Tactical Simulator missions, additional weapons, and fixes for more than 200 reported issues.
This newest patch builds on that momentum, delivering content the developer had already teased through its Year One roadmap released earlier in the summer. This includes new gameplay modes, gadgets, and mission content designed to keep the single-player campaign feeling fresh months after release.
Patch 1.2.1 Is the 'Biggest Update Yet'
According to IO Interactive, patch 1.2.1 represents the largest update the game has received since it originally launched. The centerpiece of the patch is a brand new mission introducing Pirate King Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz, giving players an entirely new story beat to work through outside of the main campaign.
Alongside that mission, the update adds a New Game Plus campaign, letting players replay through "007 First Light" with previously unlocked gadgets, weapons, and upgrades carried over from a completed save.
The patch also introduces a dedicated photo mode, giving players tools to capture and customize screenshots throughout Bond's missions, along with the G2 Glasses, a new gadget built specifically for use within the Tactical Simulator mode. On top of the new content, IO Interactive folded in further stability improvements and bug fixes, continuing the pattern set by earlier patches that focused on cleaning up progression blockers and technical issues reported by the community.
Between the new mission, the replay-focused game mode, and the added tools and gadgets, patch 1.2.1 delivers on several of the biggest promises laid out in the studio's original Year One roadmap all at once, rather than spacing them out across smaller individual updates like before.

Alongside the update, "007 First Light" is currently available at its lowest price yet through Fanatical, giving new players a cheaper entry point right as the game receives its biggest content drop so far. The game is now at $51.09 (from 69.99), which gives a 27 percent discount for the game.
IO Interactive is also running its own promotion directly through the official "007 First Light" website, offering up to 20 percent off the Deluxe Edition specifically.
