September 2026 is crowded with major releases, but some of the month's most interesting games are arriving outside the biggest launch-day conversations. Between high-profile releases, there are co-op adventures, psychological horror, arcade racing, a major JRPG continuation and a new Minecraft dungeon crawler competing for players' attention.
These five games cover very different genres, but they have one thing in common: each has a confirmed September release date from an official publisher or storefront source.
Orbitals — September 3
Shapefarm's Orbitals arrives first on September 3 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The two-player cooperative adventure follows Maki and Omura, explorers trying to save their station home after it becomes trapped inside a supernatural cosmic storm.

The hook is cooperation. Orbitals was designed specifically for two players and supports both local split-screen and online play. Nintendo also confirms support for the Orbitals Global Friend's Pass, giving one owner another way to bring a friend into the adventure.
Its presentation could also help it stand apart. The developers are leaning heavily into the look and feel of classic Japanese animation, complete with cinematic sequences from Studio Massket and an original soundtrack built around that retro-anime direction.
If Orbitals can make its asymmetric puzzles and character-specific tools work as well as its presentation, it could be one of September's more interesting Switch 2 co-op releases.
The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline — September 10
Players looking for horror have The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline on September 10.
The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline on Steam
Developed by ONE-O-ONE GAMES and published by Entalto Publishing and C&R Creative Studios, the PC game casts players as Gabriele Alighieri, a character whose family is tied to a supernatural legacy surrounding The Divine Comedy. The premise sends Gabriele into a psychological nightmare as he attempts to uncover his family history and reseal the gates of Hell.
That literary connection gives the game a more specific identity than another straightforward haunted-house story. Its Steam page categorizes it around psychological horror, exploration, puzzles and investigation rather than action-heavy combat.
There is already a playable demo available on Steam for anyone who wants to sample it before the September 10 release.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush — September 10
The same day brings something completely different.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush launches September 10 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, with early access beginning September 7 for eligible editions.

Milestone is expanding the familiar Hot Wheels racing formula into a freer structure built around four explorable islands. Players can race, find activities while free-roaming and collect more than 150 vehicles divided among four classes.
Multiplayer includes cross-play where supported and split-screen for up to four players. The enhanced Track Builder also allows players to attach track pieces directly to environmental surfaces and create custom courses that can be shared with the community.
That makes Infinite Rush more than another set of orange tracks. The question is whether the open areas can give Hot Wheels racing enough variety to justify exploring between events.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter — September 17
JRPG fans get one of the month's more substantial releases on September 17 with Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter.

The game continues Estelle Bright's story after Joshua disappears at the end of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. Falcom's official site makes clear that this is a direct continuation and even warns visitors that its promotional material contains spoilers for the first game.
The remake launches on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and PC via Steam. A demo is already available, and the publisher recommends finishing the previous story first for the full experience.
For players already invested in Estelle and Joshua's story, this may be less an overlooked release and more one of September's essential RPGs. For everyone else, the free demo gives them a relatively easy way to find out why the series has maintained such a dedicated following.
Minecraft Dungeons II — September 29
September ends with the biggest name on this particular list.
Minecraft Dungeons II launches September 29 on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Mojang's sequel expands the action-RPG structure of the original with new missions, enemies and areas. Players do not need to finish the first Minecraft Dungeons before playing the sequel, although Mojang says returning players will recognize an expanded version of its combat and loot systems.
One of the newly revealed areas is the Sift, an entirely new dimension filled with unfamiliar enemies and environments. Mojang showed the location in its August gameplay trailer, giving players their clearest look yet at how the sequel plans to move beyond the original game's locations.
The game also supports solo play and multiplayer, with Nintendo confirming support for up to four players in couch or online co-op on Switch 2.
September has enough headline games that some releases will inevitably get squeezed out of the conversation. That does not mean they should be ignored. Orbitals, The Alighieri Circle, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Minecraft Dungeons II offer five very different reasons to keep an eye on the release calendar throughout the month rather than only watching its biggest launch days.
