1. Matthew Jordan was born on the 18th January 1996 in the Wirral, England.

2. He grew up playing golf at Royal Liverpool, having joined at the age of seven, and is still a member to this day.

3. Jordan had a strong amateur career, picking up two of the most sought-after titles. In 2017 he won the St Andrews Links Trophy and the following year he captured the Lytham Trophy by nine shots. He also represented Great Britain and Ireland in the 2017 Walker Cup at Los Angeles Country Club and earned various other team honours.

4. Jordan turned pro in 2018.

5. He made the cut on his first start as a pro, finishing in a tie for 68th at the KLM Open.

6. Jordan won his first professional event in a playoff at the 2019 Italian Challenge Open on the Challenge Tour, beating Lorenzo Scalise after the pair finished tied on 17-under.

7. A stellar Challenge Tour season in 2019 earned him his full playing privileges onto the DP World Tour for the 2019/20 season.

8. He attended the 2006 Open when Tiger Woods won at Royal Liverpool, and again when Rory McIlroy won in 2014.

9. He made his maiden Major appearance at the 2022 Open where he missed the cut in St Andrews.

10. Jordan came through final qualifying to earn a spot in the 2023 Open and was granted the honour of hitting the opening tee shot at his home course of Royal Liverpool.

11. His knowledge of the course worked to his benefit, because he finished T10 at the Major, before following it up with an identical placing at The Open a year later, which came from Royal Troon.

12. In his Open debut, Jordan had the support of his girlfriend, Kate... but only for a few holes of his opening round as she had to go to work!

He said: "I mean, obviously I had family and girlfriend's parents, girlfriend was there for the first six, seven holes. She had to work. She didn't leave me. She didn't see me make bogey and leave, she had to go and work."

13. Unusually, his second T10 at The Open featured four identical rounds of 71.

14. Jordan represented Great Britain & Ireland at the 2025 Team Cup. He helped the team beat Continental Europe 17-9.

15. Jordan married Kate in 2026 and he explained at the Danish Golf Championship that his wife bought him a special tee marker with their wedding date. However, he stopped using it when his form took a dip!

He explained: "I couldn't hole a thing, so much so that now she's telling me not to use it."
