EMPULSE drops you into a 6v6 combat where Mechs change everything, as these are player-controllable machines that spawn as map objectives with heavy weapons, massive health, and unique abilities.
Mechs are the most contested objectives in EMPULSE. Instead of calling them in like other shooters, they spawn on the map as walking power weapons.
All Mech Abilities in EMPULSE
EMPULSE features one mech with three core abilities that define its combat role.
| Mech Ability | What it does | How to use it | When to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thruster (Dash + Jump) | The mech’s thruster provides both dash and jump capabilities |
Dash Press the thruster ability to quickly move forward, evade enemy fire, or close the distance on opponents Jump Use the thruster for vertical movement, reaching higher ground, or escaping below |
Dash when enemies are tracking you with aimed shots Jump to access elevated positions for better sightlines Combine dash + jump for quick repositioning during intense fights Use thruster movement to dodge incoming missiles |
| Shield | The mech deploys a shield that blocks incoming damage | Activate the shield ability when facing heavy enemy fire Position the shield toward incoming threats to maximize protection Use it defensively while your team reloads or heals |
When multiple enemies are targeting you simultaneously During objective fights where you need to survive sustained damage To protect teammates behind you by creating cover When missiles or heavy weapons are incoming |
| Missile Launcher | The mech wields a missile launcher as its heavy weapon | Aim at enemy groups or single targets Fire missiles for high damage output Account for missile travel time when aiming |
Against clustered enemy teams for maximum damage To finish off low-health opponents escaping When fighting from range where precision gunplay is harder To pressure objectives and force enemies to displace |
Thruster keeps the mech mobile despite its heavy size, letting you outmaneuver slower infantry and flank around corners. Shield is your primary defensive tool, as it lets you hold positions longer and survive encounters that would otherwise melt your health pool.
The Missile Launcher is your primary damage source, as it deals heavy damage but requires good aim since missiles have travel time. Beyond abilities, Mechs come armed with heavy weapons, including a Gatling gun for close-to-mid range combat.
How to claim a Mech in EMPULSE
To claim a Mech in EMPULSE, you need to:
- Locate the Mech as they spawn at fixed locations on the map
- Fight for control. The mech area becomes contested, so eliminate or displace enemies
- Then, enter the Mech by approaching and claiming it to become the pilot
Mechs are the most powerful objectives in the match. So, losing one to the enemy can change the entire game.
How to play Mechs in EMPULSE
Mobility is your best friend in EMPULSE. Constantly use your thruster dash and jump to stay unpredictable, but never stand still, as infantry will shred you if you’re stationary. Chain thruster movements with wall-running and grapple mechanics from infantry combat.
Activate shield before damage hits, not after. Don’t overextend while the shield is down. Use a shield to create safe moments for your team to regroup.
Lead your targets as missiles travel slowly. Them, fire at groups for splash damage optimization and save missiles for finished-off enemies. Your Crew should support you, call out enemy positions while piloting
And use Mechs to control objectives.
