A BOMB disposal team has been called to a Scottish town hall after a possible ordnance device was discovered nearby.
Police were called at around 6pm on Friday after the device was found at the rear of Lerwick Town Hall in Shetland.
Emergency services remain at the scene and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is making its way to the area to assess the device.
A police cordon has been put in place and members of the public are being urged to avoid the area.
The restrictions cover John Jamieson Close, as well as parts of Hillhead, Charlotte Street and Hill Lane in the vicinity of the close.
Police Scotland said: “Around 6pm on Friday, 18 September, 2026 we received a report that a possible ordnance device had been discovered at the rear of the Town Hall in Lerwick.
“Emergency services are in attendance and EOD are making their way to the scene to assess the device.”
