EXPLAINED: Coronation street fans wouldn t eat at roy s rolls after spotting problem - The Real Truth

Coronation Street fans have said they wouldn't eat at Roy's Rolls after one eagle-eyed viewer shared their discovery on social media.

Gregor Swanson shared two screengrabs from the ITV soap on Twitter on Friday. Both photos show much-loved Roy Cropper in his iconic Weatherfield café.

Roy has owned the café since 1999, previously alongside his late wife, Hayley.

The first of Gregor's photos shows a sign behind Roy that reads: "Pie chips and mushy peas £2.60", while the second image shows a sign that reads: "Pie, Chips and Mushy Peas £5.50".

Gregor said: "Inflation is real. Roy Cropper has had to put up the price of Pie, Chips & Mushy Peas by 112% in the last 3 months. #CostOfLivingCrisis".

Soap fans have rushed to comment on the tweet, which has now amassed thousands of likes and retweets. KW said: "Fleecing the Coronation Street community behind the mask of a friendly neighbour. Hayley would never have allowed this, God rest her soul".

Ben said: "Rampant profiteering", and Marie tagged a friend and said: "Wouldn't be able to eat at Roy's Rolls, not sure how they do on Underworld wages". Deion said: "Think of his staff… gotta pay Shona, Nina & Bernie somehow. Plus he’s got that dog now…Roy just out here grinding." [sic]
