MYSTERIOUS: Cotton facing friday weakness | Mind Blowing Facts

Cotton futures are falling back at the end of the week, with contracts down 100 to 111 points across the front months at midday. Crude oil is up 4 cents per barrel, with the US dollar index $0.533 higher.

Export Sales has the 2026/27 cotton export commitment level at 4.332 million RB, which is up 27% from a year ago. That is also 38% of USDA’s export projection, well ahead of the 30% pace last year, but lagging the 5-year average.

The Seam reported sales of 2,212 bales on Thursday at an average price of 87.19 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index was up 70 points on August 27 at 98.30 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks were unchanged on 8/27, with the certified stocks level at 66,327 bales. The Adjusted World Price was raised by another 190 points on Thursday to 71.52 cents/lb.
