A day after losing his spot atop the Supercars championship standings and labouring to a 19th-placed finish, Brodie Kostecki has bounced back by securing provisional pole for the second of two races in Townsville.
Kostecki's 1:12.838 lap on Sunday moring bettered Cam Waters and Chaz Mostert in an intense first qualifying that saw two-time defending Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen lock up and leave the track on his flying lap.
