The Friends of the Arts Foundation presents the 5th edition of "Drop In Space", a collaborative performance initiative featuring an exciting programme of international contemporary dance activities starting from Saturday to Aug 29.
For this year's project, the foundation invites Intranzyt Dance Company from Portugal for a two-week creative residency. The residency includes workshops and creative laboratories at leading Thai universities, offering dancers, students, educators and performing artists the opportunity to work closely with international choreographers and performers.
The workshops will take place at Mahasarakham University this Saturday and Sunday, Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts from Aug 17 to 18, Srinakharinwirot University's Faculty of Fine Arts from Aug 19 to 20 and Bunditpatanasilpa Institute on Aug 21.
Participation in all workshops is free of charge. Audition and selection of Thai dancers to perform with the dance group will be held on Aug 22.
The highlight of the residency is the premiere of Third Space 0.0, a new choreographic work conceived and directed by Cristina Pereira, artistic director and choreographer of the dance group, at Auditorium Hall, 5th floor of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, on Aug 28 at 7pm.
Performed by an ensemble of Thai and Portuguese dancers, Third Space 0.0 explores dialogue, identity, memory and cultural exchange through movement. Inspired by the concept of the "third space", the performance creates a meeting point where different artistic traditions coexist, interact and transform one another.
The project concludes with free pop-up performances by the artists on Aug 29 -- at EmQuartier's Helix at 2pm and Emsphere at 4pm.
Registrations for the workshops and ticket reservations for the Aug 28 show can be made via forms.gle/VHmGQGcy9x4KgcG39.
