TV presenter Eamonn Holmes is in hospital following a stroke, GB News has said.
The 66-year-old is “responding well to treatment”, according to a statement issued by the broadcaster.
“Eamonn was taken ill last week and it was later confirmed he had suffered a stroke,” read the statement.
They added that his “colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery”, with CEO Angelos Frangopoulos describing Holmes as a “loved member of the GB News family”.
Holmes left ITV’s This Morning in 2022 to join GB News where he currently presents its breakfast programme alongside co-host Ellie Costello.
Fellow GB News presenter Alex Armstrong will stand in for Holmes while he recovers in the coming week, the channel said.
In recent years, Holmes has been candid about his “horrendous” health issues, sharing that he largely uses a wheelchair and requires carers “throughout the day”.
The broadcaster has been struggling with chronic back pain since 2021. He later discovered that the pain was caused by three slipped disks.

Holmes – who had also dislocated his pelvis – underwent spinal surgery, but his recovery was far from smooth. In 2022, he had a second operation, this time for a broken shoulder. He underwent a third surgery in 2023.
Speaking last month, he said: “I'm sick. I’m in a wheelchair. That’s been horrendous to deal with for two years.”
Holmes added that he needs help getting out of a chair. “I have to have carers throughout the day,” he continued, “but once I’m sitting down, I can do everything.”

In a separate interview, the broadcaster added: “I may be physically struggling, but mentally I’m still very much on the ball. I honestly don’t feel any different from when I started on TV over 40 years ago.”
He called his new partner, relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, the “perfect tonic” to his health woes.
Holmes and Alexander began dating only months after he and his partner of 27 years, Ruth Langsford, announced their decision to split in May 2024.
Holmes and Langsford – who also worked together, regularly presentingThis Morning from 2006 to 2021 – share one son, Jack, who is now 23.
Langsford has said she is in no rush to meet someone new, admitting: “I’m not ready for a new partner, I haven’t healed from the last one.”
