An easyJet trainee pilot tragically died after developing an infection from a mosquito bite which spread to her brain, an inquest was told.
Oriana Pepper had travelled to Belgium for her instrument ratings after successfully passing her exams on the easyJet programme in Oxford. Whilst in Antwerp, the 21-year-old suffered a mosquito bite to her forehead near her right eye which later appeared swollen and infected, the Liverpool Echo reports.
After attending A&E on July 7, 2021, she was prescribed antibiotics and sent home, a hearing held on Wednesday in Ipswich was told. However, she was brought back to hospital just two days later by her boyfriend James Hall after she collapsed.
