FIRE crews have extinguished a blaze after a lorry exploded into flames in the Highlands.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of the HGV fire, which broke out at Willowbank, Wick, on Tuesday afternoon at around 2.14pm.

Two appliances were mobilised and crews were on the scene for more than an hour trying to bring the blaze under control.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews have successfully extinguished the blaze.

They said: “We got the call to Willowbank, Wick, at 2.14pm.

“We mobilised two appliances, one from Wick and one from Thurso and got the stop message at 3.50pm.

“It was a lorry that had burst into flames.”
