Mathew Rhys and Jean Smart made history. He became the first man to win two Lead Actor categories in the same ceremony. He won for Widow's Bay (Comedy Series) and The Beast in Me (Limited Series).

Smart is the first woman to win Lead Actress for every season of a TV show's run. She has won now five consecutive Emmys for Hacks.
