EXPLAINED: Former steelers wr juju smith schuster finally gets his big payday | Rare Historical Photos

In 2021, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster passed up the opportunity to sign with another team as a free agent to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Ben Roethlisberger’s final season. Then in 2022, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and won a Super Bowl.

Now it is 2023 and after six seasons, Smith-Schuster is finally getting the payday he deserves. It was announced on Wednesday that Smith-Schuster had agreed to terms on a three-year, $33 million contract with the New England Patriots. And he is only 26 years old.

Smith-Schuster’s story isn’t uncommon for the Steelers 2017 draft class. Cornerback Cameron Sutton agreed to a similar contract to play for the Detroit Lions. Both were tremendous talents cultivated in Pittsburgh but moved on to other teams in the prime of their careers.

Personally I am rooting for Smith-Schuster to continue his successful career and make all the money he can.
