A MANHUNT continues after a refugee was stabbed in Glasgow in an attack that has been described as “racially motivated”.
The man, a refugee from Yemen, was attacked while cycling through Clyde Place on July 28.
He was later treated for stab wounds at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital before being discharged, but has reportedly been left "physically and mentally severely shaken".
A charity supporting the man and his family, United Yemeni Community in Scotland (UYCS), has since condemned the attack and branded it “racially motivated”.
A spokesperson told Glasgow Live that the perpetrator shouted "go back to your home country" before falsely accusing him of being an illegal immigrant.
They said: "This violent assault was not just an attack on an innocent individual making his way home, but an assault on the core values of safety, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence that define Scotland.
"Our community members are proud, active contributors to Scottish society who deserve to live and travel freely without fearing for their safety."
The police launched a manhunt for the suspect last month, who is described as white, around 35 years old, about 6ft tall and of medium build, with a blonde beard.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was also wearing a black jacket with the hood up, carrying a black backpack and riding what appeared to be a hire bicycle.
The National can confirm that the search is ongoing.
Last month, Detective Constable Gilmour said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident and hasn’t already spoken to officers to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam, private CCTV or who may have seen someone matching the description above to get in touch.”
