Rangers are closing in on Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy, who is "undergoing a medical" before an expected move to Ibrox, according to a new report.

The 22-year-old Venezuela international has secured the paperwork needed to travel to the UK for the final stages of the transfer.

Per Sky Sports, Rangers agreed a deal worth about £9m, or $12.5m, with the MLS club last week. The transfer must be completed before Thursday’s 5pm Scottish deadline. If it goes through, Kelsy will become Rangers’ 13th signing of the summer as the club reshapes its squad.

The report claims clubs in England and elsewhere in Europe had shown interest in the forward. However, Kelsy wants to join Rangers and play in Scottish football. He has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in all competitions for Portland Timbers this season.

Kelsy’s arrival could allow Bojan Miovski to leave Ibrox before the deadline. The North Macedonia international has attracted interest from clubs in Europe.

Miovski, 27, has played twice as a substitute for Rangers this season. Since joining from Girona last summer, he has made 44 appearances, including 18 starts, and scored 13 goals for the Light Blues in all competitions.
