- A monumental "Ta-Pastry" tapestry, meticulously crafted over 200 hours with 5.5 million stitches, has been unveiled at the Design Museum to celebrate National Sausage Roll Day.
- Created by royal embroiderer Hawthorne & Heaney for high street bakery Greggs, the eight-metre-long artwork features six illustrated chapters chronicling the history and cultural impact of the sausage roll.
- The embroidery depicts key moments in Greggs' nearly century-long history, from founder John Gregg's early rounds in Newcastle to the introduction of the vegan roll and the snack's current widespread popularity.
- The "Ta-Pastry" serves as a playful, contemporary homage to the historic Bayeux Tapestry, which is due to return to the UK later this year.
- The unique artwork is on free public display at the Design Museum on 5 and 6 June, offering visitors a chance to explore the legacy of a snack that Greggs sells one million of daily.
