SHOCKING: How is abbvies stock performance compared to other healthcare stocks - You Need To See This

North Chicago, Illinois-based AbbVie Inc. (ABBV) is a global, research-driven biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing medicines for complex and serious diseases. Valued at a market cap of $386.3 billion, its key therapeutic areas include immunology, neuroscience, oncology and aesthetics, with operations spanning more than 75 countries.

Companies with a market capitalization of $200 billion or more are typically referred to as "mega-cap stocks." ABBV fits right into that category, with its market cap exceeding this threshold, reflecting its substantial size and influence in the general drug manufacturers industry. AbbVie combines a large established pharmaceutical portfolio with a rapidly expanding immunology franchise and a broad pipeline.

However, the stock currently trades 10.5% below its 52-week high of $267.41 recorded on Oct. 01, 2025. ABBV has surged 16.9% over the past three months, outpacing the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLV) 13.4% gain.

The stock has grown 22.9% over the past 52 weeks and 11.8% on a YTD basis, compared to XLV’s 25.5% rally over the past year and 10.6% rise in 2026.

ABBV has been trading below its 200-day moving average since April and above its 50-day moving average.

On July 31, AbbVie delivered a strong Q2 2026, with revenue rising 10.2% year over year to $16.99 billion and adjusted EPS jumping 22.9% to $3.65. However, investors focused on the near-term cost of AbbVie’s $10.9 billion Apogee Therapeutics acquisition, which is expected to dilute 2026 adjusted EPS by $0.14, partially offset by $0.10 of stronger-than-expected underlying performance. As a result, AbbVie lowered its full-year adjusted EPS outlook by $0.04 at the midpoint to $13.97, sending shares down 2.5%.

When stacked against its rival, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has surged 52.8% over the past year and 29.5% in 2026, outperforming ABBV.

Wall Street currently holds a moderately optimistic view of the stock. Among the 31 analysts tracking ABBV, the overall consensus stands at a “Strong Buy.” Its mean price target of $276.37 suggests 8.2% upside potential from current price levels.
