Meanwhile, star attraction, Rory McIlroy suffered a frustrating end to his opening round after a three-under score turned into a one-under total - not helped by an "agitated" McIlroy and his two playing partners being put on the clock twice.
Ryder Cup teammate, Shane Lowry signed for an encouraging 69 (-3) while Tyrrell Hatton shot 70 (-2). American former Ryder Cup players, Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, are both hovering around the early cut-line with scores of one-under and one-over, respectively.
McIlroy - playing alongside Omega European Masters winner, Thriston Lawrence and Soudal Open champion, Kristoffer Reitan - is set to tee off at 1pm IST (8am ET) on Friday in round two.
Lowry, Koepka and Martin Couvra begin their second rounds immediately before at 12:50pm (7:50am ET).
