Grammy-winning singer Kacey Musgraves has faced online backlash from conservative commentators after asking fans to support an immigrant rights charity during a concert in Chicago.
Performing on her 38th birthday at the opening night of her Middle of Nowhere tour, Musgraves urged the audience to donate to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.
She told the crowd that providing aid to children whose parents have been deported was not a political issue, but simply a matter of helping kids in need.
Conservative figures, including Fox News presenter Tomi Lahren, criticised her remarks online, while long-time supporters defended her stance.
Musgraves has consistently advocated for progressive causes throughout her career and previously raised funds for the Young Center through a Depop clothing sale.
