Donald Trump announced the US Navy would begin the process of blockading “any and all ships” trying to enter or leave the key waterway.
The move - which Trump says will blockade ships “entering or exiting” Iranian ports - is expected to start at 3pm UK time on Monday (13 April).
Appearing on Sky News on Monday, education minister Olivia Bailey confirmed the UK government won’t be involved in any blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, but repeatedly didn’t answer Sophy Ridge’s question on whether the government agrees with the US plan.
