AN eight-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following a crash on a main road in Perth.

Emergency services were called to Crieff Road in Perth at around 8.50am on Wednesday following reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police confirmed that an eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

Officers closed the road in both directions between Tulloch Road and Fairfield Road while the emergency services were at the scene.

The road was later reopened just before 11am.

In an updated statement a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Crieff Road in Perth has now re-opened following a crash involving a vehicle and an eight-year-old male pedestrian.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The crash happened around 8.50am.

“Thanks to motorists for their patience.”
