EDINBURGH Waverley has been evacuated, with all trains to and from the city “unable to operate” due to the line being closed.
Train passengers to Edinburgh have faced disruption due to a fire alarm sounding at Waverley station .
ScotRail confirmed that the Waverley line was closed and that they are “unable to operate any services to/from Edinburgh at this time”.
Video shared with The National showed scores of passengers exiting the station as an alarm goes off in the background, stating there is an "emergency".
Edinburgh Waverley has since reopened, but ScotRail has warned that disruption to the line is expected to continue for some time.
A spokesperson for ScotRail said that Scottish Fire and Rescue have confirmed that the station can now reopen following the activation of the fire alarm.

They said: “Services are now able to operate to/from Edinburgh. Delays, alterations and cancellations will occur as we get trains back into position.”
The spokesperson added: “Service recovery is now underway as we work to get train services moving again.
“Delays, alterations and cancellations continue to occur as we get trains back into position.
“Please check your journey on our app or website before travelling this evening.”
