HISTORICAL FACTS: Major uk train operator to reduce timetable next week - The Untold Story

  • Great Western Railway is reducing its timetable in Devon and Cornwall from Monday 7 September to curb short-notice cancellations caused by fleet unreliability.
  • The disruption stems from technical problems with second-hand Class 175 trains, with only one or two of the 15 delivered operating satisfactorily each day.
  • The reduction removes six weekday services and a small number of Saturday trains between Penzance and Plymouth or Exeter from sale.
  • Passengers will not qualify for delay repay compensation on the withdrawn services as the timetable changes were not formally advertised.
  • GWR has established a joint technical investigation team with Angel Trains and Alstom to resolve fleet defects and restore the cut services as soon as possible.
