A man has died after being pulled from the water at a Newcastle beach at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to Stockton Beach just before 4pm on Sunday September 20 to reports that a group of people were in trouble in the water.
Members of the public helped pull three men in their 20s from the water.
Before emergency services arrived, bystanders performed CPR on one of the men after they found he was unresponsive.
Police officers and paramedics treated all three men, but one could not be revived.
The other two men were taken to John Hunter Hospital as a precaution.
Police have begun an investigation into the incident, and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
In a separate incident on Sunday, a man in his 20s died after being pulled from the water at Saltwater Beach on the Mid North Coast.
