A man has perished inside a burning cabin at a suburban caravan park, which police working to determine what caused the blaze.
Triple-zero callers reported a fire at Sylvan Caravan Park at Campbellfield, in Melbourne's north, about 4.15am on Friday.
About 20 firefighters arrived to find the small weatherboard cabin fully engulfed in flames.
Crews did a tremendous job to bring the intense blaze under control within about 10 minutes, Fire Rescue Victoria acting commander Matt Nicholson said.
But a man, who is yet to be formally identified, was later found dead inside.
"No one else was inside the property at the time," Victoria Police said.
A handwritten note reading "closed until Monday" was placed on the reception door of the predominantly residential caravan park.
Arson detectives have been poring over the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Police are also investigating a separate suspicious fire at a kebab shop in the neighbouring suburb of Lalor hours earlier.
The shop was allegedly set light about 1.15am after offenders gained entry through the back.
A burnt-out jerry can was left behind at the scene and there was evidence of fire damage at the back of the restaurant, indicating the arsonists may have been injured as they escaped.
The Lalor and Campbellfield fires have not been linked, but police are canvassing other recent blazes for similarities to the kebab store attack.
