The Narathiwat provincial court sentenced a man to five years in prison for his role in an attempted murder case involving Prachachat Party MP Kamolsak Leewamoh.
Sunthorn Prompakdi was found guilty of helping others evade punishment, damaging, concealing or removing evidence, and receiving stolen belongings.
The court initially sentenced him to 10 years in prison but reduced the term by half after he confessed. He was ordered to pay 233,580 baht for the damages caused to the Internal Security Operations Command.
The case stems from an attack on March 20 when gunmen opened fire on Mr Kamolsak's vehicle outside his residence in Bacho district. The MP escaped unharmed, while his driver and an accompanying police officer were seriously wounded.
