Manchester United return to Premier League action at home to rivals Leeds tonight.

United have enjoyed a transformation since Michael Carrick was appointed as interim head coach in January, but did miss the chance to consolidate third place after being held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth last time out.

Confirmation that the Premier League will have an extra spot in next season’s Champions League has softened the blow for Man Utd as they are well on course to seal a return to Europe’s top table.

Leeds, meanwhile, are battling for top-flight survival and start the game three points clear of the relegation zone after Tottenham’s defeat at Sunderland on Sunday.

Daniel Farke’s side will be on a high after sealing a place in the FA Cup semi-finals thanks to a penalty shootout win over West Ham last weekend, with Chelsea coming up at Wembley.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Manchester United vs Leeds is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off tonight on Monday April 13, 2026.

The match will take place at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Manchester United vs Leeds team news

United will be without central defender Harry Maguire as he serves a one-match suspension after being sent off against Bournemouth before the international break.

Patrick Dorgu, meanwhile, is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury but the Leeds game may come too soon for a return to action.

Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined with a troublesome back injury, but Lisandro Martinez is available for selection after missing the last five games with a calf injury.

Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko are fit despite withdrawing from international duty, while Noussair Mazraoui should return to the matchday squad after missing out against Bournemouth through illness.

Diogo Dalot - along with veteran third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton - did not travel to the Republic of Ireland for a four-day training camp last week due to illness, but is expected to play.

As for Leeds, they have suffered a double selection blow with Farke confirming that both Joe Rodon and Anton Stach will miss the trip to Old Trafford after coming off injured in the FA Cup quarter-final win over West Ham.

Ex-Manchester United winger Daniel James is also absent with an adductor strain, while Jaka Bijol, Noah Okafor and Gabriel Gudmundsson all face late fitness tests.

Manchester United vs Leeds prediction

While Man Utd have stumbled on the road in recent weeks, they remain flawless at home under Carrick and we expect them to continue that form here.

Leeds will provide a stern test having avoided defeat away at Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa this season, but this is likely to be one step too far.

Manchester United to win, 3-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

The reverse fixture at Elland Road in January finished 1-1 and proved to be the end of Ruben Amorim’s tenure as head coach, though he did manage to extend United’s unbeaten run against their rivals to eight matches.
