Melania Trump returned to the White House in Washington, D.C., this week after 32 days out of the public eye, and her reappearance on Thursday has fuelled fresh plastic surgery speculation, with one cosmetic doctor pointing to 'subtle changes' in her face.
The first lady, 56, had not been seen at an official event since she attended the FIFA World Cup final on July 19. Her low profile, unusual even for someone who prefers to stay out of the constant glare, sparked online speculation about where she had been and whether she might be recovering from a discreet cosmetic procedure.
There is no evidence confirming she underwent any such treatment during her absence. Her comeback at a White House event for her Fostering the Future initiative has now renewed that speculation.

The renewed focus on Melania began with new photos from Thursday's Rose Garden event, where she appeared alongside representatives from IndyCar and Fox Corporation to unveil a $2 million (£1.47 million) donation to fund scholarships for young adults leaving foster care, with Indiana University and Purdue University joining the programme.
'I heard you missed me,' she told the crowd before adding, 'Here I am.' The remark acknowledged the attention surrounding her month-long absence, while her appearance also prompted renewed online discussion about her looks.
Plastic surgeon and aesthetic doctor Dr Fadi Hamadani, speaking to Irish Star US, said the first lady's latest appearance suggested she may have had 'some work', though he stressed repeatedly that no procedure can be confirmed from images alone.
'Melania Trump looks great. She looks incredibly fresh and well rested, and while it's impossible to know exactly what she's had done from photographs alone, there are a few subtle changes that could suggest she's had some work,' Hamadani said.
The doctor's comments have added an expert opinion to what remains unconfirmed speculation about Melania's appearance. They also land just after another round of headlines about Donald Trump exposing something else his wife 'hates' about him.
Neither the first lady nor the White House has said she underwent cosmetic treatment during her absence.
Surgeon Highlights Eyes, Jawline and Recovery Window
Hamadani focused first on Melania's eyes, saying they looked noticeably different compared with some of her past public outings. In his view, they appear 'more open and less heavy' than before.
'Her eyes look more open and less heavy than they have previously, so it's possible she may have had an upper blepharoplasty,' he explained, referring to cosmetic eyelid surgery.
'This involves removing excess skin from the upper eyelids and can really open up the eye area and create a fresher appearance without dramatically changing the face.'
The timing, he suggested, would fit such a procedure, at least in theory.
'If she has reportedly been out of the public eye for around 30 days, that would also have given her time to recover from a procedure like this, although of course we can't say for certain that she's had surgery,' he said.
Hamadani also pointed to changes lower down the face, describing what he saw as a sharper look around Melania's jaw.
'Her jawline appears to be more defined and contoured, so it's likely she's having treatments such as Morpheus8 Burst, which uses radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin and stimulate collagen, particularly around the lower face and jawline, helping to create a firmer and more defined appearance without surgery,' he said.
His assessment remains based solely on Melania's public appearance and photographs rather than medical information. Changes in photographs can also be influenced by factors including lighting, makeup, facial expression and camera angles.
'Still Looks Like Herself' as Speculation Swirls
Alongside the eye and jawline theories, Hamadani suggested that Melania's smooth complexion could reflect consistent, relatively low-key treatments rather than a single major procedure during her absence.
'Her skin also looks incredibly smooth and well-maintained, which is likely to be the result of regular skin treatments rather than one dramatic procedure,' he said. 'She may also be having small amounts of Botox and carefully placed filler to maintain her features, but nothing looks obvious or overdone.'
He summed up his assessment by again stressing the subtle nature of any possible treatment. 'Overall, if she has had anything done during her time away, I suspect it's been a combination of subtle treatments. She looks fresher and more defined, but importantly, she still looks like herself.'
Despite the speculation, there has been no confirmation that Melania underwent cosmetic surgery or other aesthetic procedures during her month away from public events. Her appearance alone cannot establish whether any treatment took place.
For a sitting first lady who has long been scrutinised for everything from her facial expression to her wardrobe, her return inevitably attracted attention beyond the policy announcement itself.
What can be confirmed is that she chose to re-emerge not at a social function but at a White House event announcing an expansion of her foster care initiative.
IndyCar and Fox Corporation each contributed $1 million (£ 773k), bringing the combined donation to $2 million (£1.47 million), to fund scholarships at Indiana University and Purdue University.
The addition of the two universities expands Fostering the Future's network to 26 academic institutions nationwide, according to the White House.
Whether that will be enough to shift the conversation back to her work rather than speculation about her appearance is another question entirely.
