TWO men are behind bars accused of a terrifying targeted domestic violence-related stabbing at Muswellbrook last week.
Jerome Neville, 20, and Desmond Charles Watts, 40, are accused of attacking a 23-year-old man at a house in Sydney Street about 2.30am on Friday.
The Hunter's specialist high-risk domestic violence offender team and the Northern Region Operation Support Group raided another property at Muswellbrook later that day, arresting the pair and allegedly seizing a knife, drugs and other items linked to the stabbing.
Neville was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, investigators alleging he was responsible for stabbing the 23-year-old.
While Watts was charged with being a principal in the second degree in relation to the stabbing.
The pair did not enter pleas when they had their matters mentioned in a bail division court on Saturday.
Both men were refused bail and will next appear in Newcastle Local Court in November.
According to police, emergency services were called to Sydney Street about 2.25am on Friday after reports that a man had been injured.
Hunter Valley police rushed to the scene, where they were told a 23-year-old man had been assaulted and stabbed by two unknown men.
The pair ran from the scene before police arrived.
Paramedics treated the 23-year-old before he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation.
Police say inquiries led investigators, backed by specialist police, to a home at Muswellbrook about 12pm, where they arrested Neville and Watts.
During a search, police allegedly seized knives, cannabis and items believed to be linked to the incident.
The pair were taken to Muswellbrook police station and charged over the stabbing, while Neville was also charged with having his face disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Watts was also charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited drug.
