In news that heals my inner child, Disney has just announced that Hannah Montana is getting a 20th anniversary special, with both Miley Cyrus and Alex Cooper set to appear.
Â
I guess we really do get the best of both worlds!
The studio described the one-off special, which will be filmed in front of a live audience, as a chance to âcelebrate the iconic series that defined a generation â exactly two decades after its Disney Channel debutâ. Feel old yet?
Cyrus is of course on board (she didnât endure years of itchy wigs for nothing), and will sit down for an exclusive and in-depth interview with the Call Her Daddy podcast host to chat all things Hannah, Disney, and hopefully the process behind all those vocal transition ad libs.Â
Taking us even further back in time, the special will also resurrect some of the Hannah Montana sets, including her wardrobe (wig palace) and the family living room.Â
Oh, weâre also getting never-before-seen archival footage, because no one is better at milking the nostalgia for all its worth than Disney.Â
âHannah Montana will always be a part of who I am,â Cyrus said in a statement after the specialâs announcement, per The Hollywood Reporter.Â
âWhat started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and Iâll always be thankful for that connection. The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something Iâm very proud of.âÂ

Cyrus dug through the Montana archives herself over the weekend, sharing some throwback snaps of herself as the character as well as pics of the episode scripts (AKA the sacred texts).
You probably donât need the reminder, but Hannah Montana premiered on Disney Channel back in 2006, and became a pop cultural phenomenon which kickstarted Cyrusâ career and ran for four seasons â during which only a handful of characters were able to deduce that Hannah was just Mileyâs pop star alter-ego with some haphazardly applied bangs.Â
Cyrus again looked back at her time on the show for its 15-year anniversary back in 2021, writing an open letter in which she gave âall my love and utmost gratitudeâ to sitcom counterpart.Â

Iâve basically been sobbing ever since then, but Iâll need an extra box of tissues when the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special lands on Disney+ on March 24.Â
To segue out of this, I offer you one of Hannahâs iconic vocal transitions: Ohhh ohh, yeah-eh-eh. Â
