Full Modern Warfare 4 Beta patch notes
Full Campaign mission in the Beta and Multiplayer maps
The Beta includes a playable Campaign mission, a thing that’s happening for the first time in CoD history. Entrenched is a full mission that will set MW4‘s story and tone.
Coming to Multiplayer, the first weekend features four core maps:
- Rooftops : Rooftops is a vertical, close-to-mid-range map set across connected rooftops and alleyways
- Silkworm : Silkworm is a more open and mid-to-long-range map with multiple lanes and elevated positions
- Transit 213 : Transit 213 is an urban transit hub with trains, platforms, and interior corridors
- Kill Block : Kill Block is a dedicated 10v10 Gunfight-style map built for the Kill Block playlist
Core modes and playlists
The Beta includes the classic Call of Duty modes, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed.
Special modes include Mobility Course, which is a training ground focused entirely on movement, and Kill Block 10v10 Gunfight, a large-scale map with fast-respawning gunfights. Featured playlists include Quick Play, Open Moshpit, Kill Block, and Mobility Course.
Weapons and Gunsmith overhaul
Weekend One launches with 14 weapons, with varied range, fire rate, and handling. Gunsmith returns with deeper customization. Now, you can fine-tune weapons using a wide range of attachments, including a new Apex Attachments tier.
These attachments are powerful mods that push a weapon into a specific role. According to Activision, “Han 86 transforms into the Han X20 Skybreaker. This advanced weapons system mounts to the top of the receiver and allows the platform to deploy 20mm airburst rounds which detonate at a specified distance. The X-58 Nyx becomes the X-58 Void. Complete with a brass catcher and an extended, wrapped suppressor, the X-58 Void is the ultimate stealth platform – hiding enemy death markers and obfuscating the directional hit indicators of its targets.”
One of the biggest QOL changes in MW4 is that attachment progression is de-duplicated. Meaning, when you unlock an attachment on one weapon, it can be used on other compatible guns. You no longer need to grind the same attachment separately on every weapon.
Killstreaks, level caps, and progression
MW4 introduces a new layer to how you earn killstreaks, called Smart Streaks. Kills still count toward your streak in all modes. But in addition, objective play now contributes directly to your Killstreak Meter. Objective actions that feed into Smart Streaks include capturing and holding Domination flags, holding the Hardpoint zone, and planting the Data Spike.
Weekend 1’s level cap is 20, and for weekend 2, it’s 30 levels. The second weekend also adds more content overall, including the new Zodiac Resurgence map for Warzone during the open beta.
