Mohamed Salah criticised a Liverpool fan account on X for a post that compared former teammates Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez unfavourably with new signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
The fan account's post suggested Wirtz and Isak represented a "bigger upgrade" in footballing history.
Salah responded by defending Diaz and Nunez, stating that new signings should be celebrated without disrespecting "Premier League champions".
Following Salah's intervention, the fan account issued an apology, clarifying that no disrespect was intended.
The social media exchange occurred after Diaz transferred to Bayern Munich for £65.5m and Nunez joined Al-Hilal for £46.2m, while Liverpool reportedly broke transfer records for Isak and Wirtz.
