WhatsApp seems to be bewildering its users currently with this seemingly annoying glitch. You delete a WhatsApp message on your phone and suddenly the option to “Delete for everyone” is missing. Then you open WhatsApp Web or the desktop app and find the option sitting there. The difference can be confusing, but there are a few simple reasons why WhatsApp may show different deletion options on different devices.

Is the message too old to delete?
The first thing to check is when the message was sent. WhatsApp gives users a little over two days to delete a message for everyone. The window is 60 hours. Once that time has passed, the “Delete for everyone” option disappears and only “Delete for me” remains, as per a report by Gulf News.
So, if the message is already more than 60 hours old, opening WhatsApp Web on a computer will not bring the option back.
But if the message is still within that window and one device shows “Delete for everyone,” there may be another reason for the difference.
