On Friday morning, Carolina Panthers safety Kenny Robinson passed down some incredibly encouraging news on Buffalo Bills safety and longtime friend Damar Hamlin.

The positive update would be reported on by Shams Charania, of The Athletic and Stadium, about half an hour following Robinsonâs tweet.
A blessing: The breathing tube is out of Damar Hamlin as of this morning and he has begun talking to Buffalo Bills teammates again. Hamlin has had a breathing tube in body through his throat since Monday night, but no longer needs it and can breathe fully on his own. https://t.co/C021XSOJsu

Hamlin suffered from cardiac arrest during Monday nightâs game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old has been showing remarkable signs of improvement throughout the week, as doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center told reporters yesterday that Hamlin was able to communicate through writing.
Robinson and Hamlin are childhood friends. Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks detailed the twoâs relationship back on Wednesday.
âAgain, theyâve known each other since middle school,â he said. âTheyâre in a group text every weekâhim and another guy they grew up with. Heâs real close to him. And I wanted him to understand, as well as anybody else in that locker room, we care about you beyond the game of football.â
