POLICE have issued an update after a large group of protesters wearing balaclavas were seen in Glasgow city centre.
Officers were made aware of the group gathering in Buchanan Street at around 4.20pm on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses at the scene heard protesters shouting "stop the boats and send them" and "prevent rapes in the city".
The protest was organised by far-right group the Scottish Citizen Army, who had warned that the demonstration would "hold up journeys home from work".
"We know that will anger people," the group wrote on social media ahead of the protest.
"We are doing it because working people in Scotland are already paying more tax, waiting longer for homes and treatment, and watching homelessness, mental health demand and drug deaths rise."
The group added: "We regret the disruption. Until the Government listens, it will continue."
More than 20 police officers attended the scene to manage the group.
The protesters began to disperse near Charing Cross.
Police confirmed there was no disruption to travel networks, and in an update on Wednesday said no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.20pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 we were made aware of a large group of people gathered in Buchanan Street, Glasgow.
"The group made their way through the city centre towards Charing Cross where officers contained them to engage, maintain public safety and minimise disruption.
"They dispersed from the area; there were no arrests and no wider threat to the public."
