KANCHANABURI - Kroengkrawia waterfall in Khao Laem National Park has been closed to visitors because of the danger posed by the fast flowing river after persistent rain.
Park chief Sakhon Suebsai ordered the closure after days of heavy rain raised the level of the Kroengkrawia stream, the source of the waterfall. The strong, murky current has already damaged a bridge along the tourist trail to the waterfall.
It would remain closed until the stream level returns to normal, he said. Local eateries and toilets remain open.
There were also incidents of rocks falling down the hillside onto Highway 323, near the waterfall. Park rangers cleared them away and installed warning signs and traffic cones for public safety. Rain was continuing across the area.
