Pornpawee Chochuwong missed out on a chance to end her title drought after losing to Akane Yamaguchi in the women's singles final of the US$500,000 BWF Australian Open in Sydney on Sunday.

The Thai second seed last won a tournament at the 2025 Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters and the wait continues as the 28-year-old fell to the top seed from Japan 20-22, 18-21 in 46 minutes.
