Local councils have called for tougher national data centre regulations, saying they are powerless against the whims of billion-dollar companies planning to build on prime land.
Data centre companies AirTrunk and Goodman fronted a Senate committee in Sydney on Tuesday, saying they were working closely with governments to reduce their carbon footprints and earn their social licence.
