Flames tore through the thatched roof of a famous restaurant, Chez Gado Gado, in Seminyak, Bali.
The fire is believed to have started when a helium balloon ignited near a table celebrating a 70th birthday, according to witnesses.
Video shared on social media on Sunday (30 August) captures thick smoke billowing from the restaurant.
Firefighters battled the blaze for more than two hours, deploying 10 engines and around 115,000 litres of water to bring it under control.
No casualties were reported, but the 30-year-old restaurant was left gutted, with damage estimated at roughly £190,000.
