PATTAYA - A Russian woman has returned a lost wallet containing 22,000 baht in cash to its happy, and much relieved, Thai owner.

The 54-year-old Russian woman, known as Natalie, saw and picked up the wallet from the ground in Soi Wat Boon Samphan 9 Road in tambon Nong Prue on Saturday. The wallet held 22,700 baht in cash and an ID card in the name of Penkhae Pakmaruek, 58, a resident of tambon Nong Prue.

She asked a Thai acquaintance to take the wallet to Nong Prue police station. Police contacted the woman named in the ID card.

A very happy Ms Penkhae said she never thought the wallet would be returned with all the money still inside. She praised Ms Natalie for her honesty and thanked police for arranging the wallet's return.

She handed an amount of money to the Russian as a token of her gratitude.
