OIL giant Shell is to relocate some of its staff from Aberdeen to London.
The BBC reports that teams based at the firm's Kingswell offices in the city are impacted.
The staff are understood to work on projects across the globe but not the North Sea.
Shell has not revealed the number of jobs lost.
The company said it wanted to concentrate the number of roles in its London hub to allow for "greater collaboration".
It is understood that the move will not affect other Shell staff at Kingswells or Adura, which is the Aberdeen-based joint North Sea operation the firm has with Norwegian state-owned energy company Equinor.
In a statement, Shell said: "Certain roles in our development, subsurface and wells teams will be expected to move to London from Aberdeen in 2027 to allow greater collaboration at our central UK hub.
"The majority of these affected roles currently support Shell's global operations, rather than UK operations based in Aberdeen."
It comes after Shell revealed a better-than-expected 70% surge in first-half earnings last month, despite “severe disruption” in oil and gas markets amid the Iran war.
The FTSE 100 oil giant saw earnings jump to $16.75bn (£12.55bn) after notching up a forecast-beating haul of $9.84bn (£7.37 bn) in the three months to the end of June 2026.
Its oil traders were able to exploit the war in Iran for excessive profits stemming from the highly volatile cost of crude while the Strait of Hormuz remains too dangerous to trade through.
It comes after BP put its UK North Sea business up for sale after 60 years of production earlier this year.
