SHOCKING: Sony sets two back to back state of play streams for september 3 - You Need To See This

Sony will run two State of Play broadcasts back-to-back on September 3, and the first one ends on Square Enix. The main show starts at 9 a.m. ET and closes with an extended look at "Final Fantasy VII: Revelation."

Sony confirmed the schedule in a post on PlayStation.Blog on Aug. 31. The main broadcast covers updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners before handing the last segment to Square Enix.

State of Play Japan airs immediately after, hosted again by voice actor Yuki Kaji. That one is built around studios in Japan and across Asia, with new gameplay and announcements.

Both streams go out on PlayStation's YouTube and Twitch channels. The broadcast is in English with Japanese subtitles available. Sony has not said how long either show runs, and has not named a single participating studio beyond Square Enix.

The Revelation segment is the reason to set an alarm. Square Enix has been feeding out pieces of the trilogy closer — Vincent Valentine's combat surfaced at Gamescom — but an end-of-show slot on a first-party broadcast is a different tier of placement than a sizzle segment. [VERIFY: Revelation is reported as targeting spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC. Confirm against a Square Enix release before printing the window.]

Splitting the two shows also lets Sony keep its global slate and its regional slate from fighting for the same runtime. If you only care about first-party and big third-party news, the first stream is the whole job. If you follow Japanese and Asian developers, stay in the tab.

There is no published lineup, which historically means Sony is holding at least one thing back.

Both broadcasts start September 3 at 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT / 3 p.m. CEST / 10 p.m. JST. We'll be covering the announcements live as they land.
