The New York Times reporter Carol Rosenberg is widely regarded as one of the foremost American journalists, if not the foremost, on the U.S. detention camp at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, where several alleged suspects in the 9/11 attacks are still being held, including the alleged “architect” of the attacks, alongside three other suspected plotters.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is scheduled for trial in June 2028, 27 years after the attacks.

Carol has written a reflective piece this week to mark the anniversary, titled A Place Where Memories Have Faded Away.
