The 2000s are widely considered the golden age of FPS games and rightfully so. It was during this time that games like "Halo: Combat Evolved," "Halo 2," and "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" were released.
It may feel like that time is all in the past, but if you happen to miss 2000s-style FPS game, an upcoming game set to release very soon is heavily inspired by this golden age.
Here's what you have to know about "Sprawl Zero" before its release.
'Sprawl Zero'
"Sprawl Zero" is a prequel to 2023's "Sprawl," set in the same dystopian cyberpunk world. According to the game's official Steam page, players take control of FIVE, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier working under the Junta. FIVE is ordered to eliminate SILAS, the leader of the radical techno-religious group IMAGO-DEI, as the city descends into chaos.
The story explores a city caught between military rule, religious fanaticism, and competing factions fighting for control. "Sprawl Zero" is developed by MAETH, the indie studio behind the original "Sprawl," and published by Kwalee. PC Gamer also describes the game as a shift from the original's '90s-inspired style toward the Golden Age of 2000s FPS games.
