The recent appointment of Katrina Cooper as chair of the Conciliation Commission for the Thailand-Cambodia dispute is a welcome development. It allows a recognised framework under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), to which both countries are signatories, to be brought into play. Both countries have congratulated her and pledged full cooperation. At last, the process has begun.
