Steven Bergwijn, the Dutch winger, has recently spoken out against Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman following critical remarks made by Koeman regarding Bergwijn's move to Saudi Arabia. Koeman had stated that Bergwijn's decision to transfer from Ajax to Al Ittihad marked the end of his national team career, insinuating that financial motives overshadowed sporting aspirations in the move.
In a candid interview with De Telegraaf, Bergwijn expressed his disappointment with Koeman's comments, stating that he no longer wishes to play under the current Dutch coach. Bergwijn emphasized that he would have appreciated a direct conversation with Koeman before such public statements were made, highlighting his respect for the national team and his willingness to support his teammates despite the situation.
