
Alibaba unveils no-code AI tool to build apps in minutes
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has launched a free, no-code artificial intelligence tool that allows users to build fully functional websites and applications using natural-language commands. Developed by Alibaba’s newly established Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) business group, the platform, called Meoo, can interpret user prompts and generate complete web pages or HTML5 applications in as little as one minute. The tool is currently available to the public at no cost and allows users to deploy their creations directly on Alibaba Cloud without programming experience, the company said Wednesday.
CATL’s Q1 revenue jumps 52%
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) reported first-quarter revenue of 129.13 billion yuan ($18.9 billion), a 52.45% increase year-on-year, according to its financial report released on Wednesday. Net profit attributable to shareholders rose 48.52% to 20.74 billion yuan. The battery giant on the same day announced plans to establish a wholly owned subsidiary, which will serve as a professional investment and management platform in the new-energy minerals sector.
Douyin invests $73 million in short dramas
ByteDance Ltd.’s short-video platform Douyin announced that it will allocate 500 million yuan ($73 million) to support content innovation and realistic themes in live-action short dramas. The company will also introduce multi-tiered incentive policies and a creator center to improve revenue-sharing transparency and help creators lower investment risks and production barriers.
China’s machinery, electronics exports hit record in Q1
China’s exports of machinery and electronics products jumped 21.4% from a year earlier to a record $620 billion in the first quarter of 2026, driven by strong overseas demand for integrated circuits and vehicles. Integrated circuits were the largest export category, surging 77.5% to $72.5 billion and accounting for 11.7% of total machinery and electronics exports. Automatic data-processing equipment and components, mainly laptops and tablets, ranked second, with exports rising 26.7% to $60.4 billion. Vehicles, including chassis, ranked as the third-largest export category, climbing 58.5% to $40.8 billion.
HiDream.ai completes over 500 million yuan funding
Chinese AI startup HiDream.ai announced on Wednesday the completion of a new funding round raising over 500 million yuan. The round was jointly led by new investors including Oriental Fortune Capital and Anhui Provincial Investment Group’s industrial investment arm, with continued participation from existing backers.
