RARE PHOTOS: The swansea city player ratings as key error proves costly and bench impact not enough at reading - The Real Truth

STEVEN BENDA 5

Couldn't fully clear from the free-kick that led to Andy Carroll's opener but had little else to do in the first half. Woeful pass to gift Reading a second.

NATHAN WOOD 6

Comfortable on the ball yet again in a solid performance. Hooked as Swansea pushed in the second half.

HARRY DARLING 6

Starting for the first time since the 0-0 draw with Huddersfield Town, Darling made a couple of clearances, although maybe carry upfield as high up as was needed. Great chance to nick a point at the death, but could only head straight at Lumley.

BEN CABANGO 6

Made plenty of tackles and clearances as Reading went direct to Carroll. Solid display.

MATTY SORINOLA 5

Returning to the line-up after missing out on the last three squads, Sorinola showed glimpses but couldn't really deliver the end product. Subbed.

JOE ALLEN 6

On his first Swans start in more than three months, the Wales star was slick in the first half and helped to keep his side on the front foot.

MATT GRIMES 6

Made his share of tackles to ensure the visitors were able to dominate the ball. Range of passing was decent again, but couldn't have the crucial killer impact.

RYAN MANNING 6

Got into good areas in the final third but was twice off target with efforts at goal in the opening half. Some really poor set-piece deliveries, though.

JAY FULTON 6

Saw plenty of the ball in the middle of the pitch and was accurate in possession. Solid rather than spectacular.

OLLIE COOPER 6

Back in the line-up after his fine impact off the bench at Coventry City, Cooper's directness was refreshing, although he spurned a glorious chance in the first half. Taken off in the second half.

JOEL PIROE 6

Had a number of decent openings but failed to trouble Joe Lumley. Decent enough when dropping deep.

Subs

Liam Cullen (for Allen) - Good energy when he came on and prodded home to hand the Swans a lifeline. 7

Jamie Paterson (for Cooper) - A good delivery in the build-up to Cullen's goal. 6

Luke Cundle (for Fulton) - Spurned a good chance to hit the target late on. 6

Armstrong Oko-Flex (for Wood) - Really direct yet again and had the Reading defence on the back foot. 6

Kyle Naughton (for Sorinola) - Too late to make a real impact. N/A
