As a motorcyclist, I turn my head through corners, I look up and out, and I'm constantly scanning the road ahead, to the side, and even behind me. That sounds like overkill, but it's how you stay alive, stay healthy, and keep yourself from getting hit by distracted drivers. I even do this when I'm driving a car, to the point where I've driven with pro drivers who immediately ask me, "So you're a motorcyclist, huh?"
So when I see something like Aegis Rider's new head-up display/augmented reality Vision motorcycle helmet, which features a display not built into the shield, but rather putting weird-ass glasses in front of the rider's eyes, I begin thinking about how distracting this has to be. I mean, it's not flush with your eyes like regular glasses, nor out in front of you like other AR shields. It's just sort of in front of you in this highly distracting liminal space.
